Samantha and Aaron - Rancho Bernardo Inn

Have you ever met a couple and just knew it had to be?  That's how I feel about Samantha and Aaron!  I think that Samantha's love story tells it best...

"Aaron and I knew we wanted to marry one another about a year into dating. We had been very intentional right from the start about figuring out if we were in fact “the one” for one another and sure enough everything we learned about one another only made it more clear that it was meant to be. He was still in school and I had only been out for a short time, just trying to get by in the world, post college. So we decided to wait until Aaron was done with school and had a job. Unfortunately it took longer than we’d hoped for Aaron to find a job with the economy in its current state, so it was a year and half later that we were finally engaged! And boy, did it seem like forever!

We’d been best friends and dating for almost two and a half years when Aaron asked me to be his wife. He disguised the moment by making me believe that we were headed to the Jonathan Club in Santa Monica for a friend’s engagement party. Knowing the little detective in me, Aaron even created a false invitation to the “engagement party” just in case I asked, and I did. When we arrive to the beach, it was just before sunset. He had coordinated the whole things with management at the club so that even the valets directed us to where the “party” was being held. Following the signs that pointed in the direction of the party, we made our way to the upper floor of one of the restaurants. We walked through the door toward an empty balcony overlooking the ocean. There was only one table though… a party for two, to my surprise. Red roses, candle light, and the sun setting on the horizon –before I could even turn to Aaron and mutter anything, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Shaking with nervousness, still trying to wrap my mind around what was actually happening, I just grabbed him and hugged him for the longest and tightest hug we’ve ever had. THEN I looked at this fiery, gorgeous ring, he put it on my, still, trembling hand and then I believe we hugged again.  Who knows how long it lasted.  A waiter came, sat us at the table, brought our each of the three courses Aaron had already ordered and were ready for us. We ate our dinner. Smiling and giggling, reeling in the feeling that this moment was actually happening. We finished our meal and headed out.

I thought that we were headed to his brother’s house to share the exciting news and show them the lovely ring, but there were more surprises waiting. When we entered the house, there stood all of our closest friends and some family! I was so shocked –my reaction was first that of surprise followed by an overwhelming amount happiness with a few tears of joy. We visited with everyone, ate some dessert and shared what had unfolded in the hours before.

It was truly something out of a fairytale. He did such a wonderful job. Lord knows I did not make it easy as I had been on the lookout for quite some time, wanting to be engaged for a year and a half can really make a lady nutty… cut me some slack! All I know, is that right now, days away from marrying my best friend in the world, is that it was WELL worth the wait!!"
